Celebrating Black History Month

If you haven't yet had the chance to explore the National Museum of African History & Culture, it's definitely worth planning a visit! I had the opportunity to go last year, and I was truly amazed by the amount of history covered by the museum's exhibits and presentations.

The museum has it all, from political, spiritual, and musical history, to entrepreneurship that helped build this country, and the hair that changed the country's perspective on black hair. Even if you think you know black history, you will learn something here during your visit.

When you go, be prepared, there is a lot to see. There are 4 floors full of information to read, exhibits to see, and presentations to watch. If you want to have a thorough experience and see everything, it may take 2 visits. I was able to get to the 4th floor on day 1, but to be honest, I had to skip a lot to get there. So you may want to plan accordingly.

A visit to the National Museum of African History & Culture is a great way to celebrate Black History Month. Just be sure to try to plan for a long day or a two day visit.
